NCAP’s Tests

Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) have recently released their list of safest cars on sale in 2011. The series of rigorous testing took place in 2010 and involved crash testing 29 cars across various makes and models. NCAP then award a rating of safety, with five stars being one of the safest cars in the market.

Of the 29 cars tested, 65% were awarded the top honour of five stars compared to 90% in 2009. This is due to tighter and tougher testing regulations to ensure that NCAP promotes only the safest cars available.

The aspects taken into account when testing these models for safety are – adult safety, child safety, pedestrian protection and standard safety features. There were five clear winners who drove off with the title of safest car available in each section.
