5 Tips To Keep Your Weight Loss Resolutions Intact
If you’re anything like the rest of us, your New Year’s resolutions have already been cast aside in a post-festive fit of, why bother?
Whether you planned to quit smoking or lose weight and get rid of double chin, the reality of horrible winter weather and the ‘January Blues’ have combined to make life’s vices even more appealing.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. Whilst December is often a time for overindulgence and temptation, January offers the opportunity to discard those festive pounds and get your healthy, pre-Christmas lifestyle back on track. Here’s how…
1. Stay Positive
We’d all love to click our fingers and get back to the weight we were pre-Christmas, but it’s important to stay realistic and positive.
Make your goals realistic, such as losing a little tummy weight, or firming-up your core muscles. Once you’re in the swing of it, you can set more ambitious goals later. We’re loving a new exercise App we’ve bought that’s just a gentle 7mins exercise each morning, spent in the warmth of our own home.
2. Make a Plan
Just like the A-Team suggested, you’ll love it when your weight loss plan comes together! Clearly this means having a plan in the first place. So write a plan.
Your plan should include your overall health & fitness Aims & Objectives for 2015. Make it SMART (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, & Targeted). And make it positive, because human nature means we’ll ultimately reject pain and negativity.
3. Share Your Plans
A problem shared is a problem halved, so discuss your health and weight loss goals with friends and family. Be proud of yourself, and be proud to share your goals and achievements. Even better, include your friends in your plan; arrange healthy walks, share exercise routines; or turn it all into a big ‘badminton ladder’ with all your friends, and friends of friends. Make it fun.
4. Reward Yourself
What’s the light at the end of the tunnel? If there isn’t one, then get shining one! Why not set yourself a target of being a desired dress or trouser size, then go out and buy it when you’ve reached your goals. Or a full frills LBD night-out with your friends, in the swankiest restaurant or nightclub?
5. Don’t Lose Faith
You’ve got to have Faith! It’s easy to give up on your New Year’s resolutions as quickly as you’ve made them, but try to keep the faith and remind yourself of the reasons why you set them?
If it all feels like too much and you’ve thrown in the towel, try sticking to one resolution for a day – and take it from there.
