Wearable Solutions to Reduce Appearance of Cellulite!

Mums, here’s the deal. We’ve just discovered a wearable, simple solution to tackle the plight of women’s appearance! The dreaded cellulite!

So What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is not exclusive to any body type or age. Any woman – young, old, thin or heavy can be affected. Genetics and inherited skin structure are a major contributor on whether you are more cellulite prone than others, as this determines how many fat cells you have and where they are distributed – thanks mum!

This dimply, subsurface fat will typically appear on the thighs and bum, with many comparing the skins dulating appearance to cottage cheese. This bumpy formation is due to a connective tissue, comprised mainly of collagen, in the subcutaneous layer of the skin that is shaped like a honeycomb. This webbed layer separates the skins surface from the fat cells underneath, but when it’s elasticity starts to decrease, the fat cells simply push up through it to raise the epidermis and give the lumpy, uneven appearance.

So what causes the loss of elasticity? Collagen is a protein that helps keep skin elastic and strong. When the oestrogen hormone is released in the body, fluid in fatty tissues can build up and collagen production decreases. As such, cellulite primarily affects women; showing a 90% instance in females and only 10% developing in males due to their lower level of oestrogen. Men also have less subcutaneous fat than women; the fairer sex featuring more in their thighs, arms and buttocks. To balance things up however, men are more prone to developing beer guts as this is where those extra calories will go first. Ha!

What’s The Cure? Is There Cure?

Unless you were a winner in life’s lottery, where fewer family fat cells and copious collagen levels were concerned – there’s no proven way to prevent cellulite outright. As you may have guessed, there are a number of ways that women (and men) have tried to reduce the appearance of cellulite when they had no control of the cause. Quick and cheaper methods range from the application of creams and ointments to more involved and expensive fixes such as special serums, body wraps, massage techniques, electrical stimulation and lazer treatments. The more holistically minded have tried more natural methods such as yoga, reflexology and even acupuncture. The results of any of these methods – from the store bought to the leftfield – may show some temporary improvement, but have never been proven effective in the complete reduction of cellulite.

Is There Anything We Can Do?

There are some healthy measures everyone can do to help say ‘see ya’ to cellulite for now (although you’ll never completely part company, sorry)

  • Firstly, quit smoking as this reduces your collagen levels.
  • Secondly, a combination of healthy diet and exercise can help lessen risk of ripple and reduce one of the root causes. Processed foods bursting with excess fat, sodium, sugar and chemicals lead to a toxic build up in fat cells, and increased fluid retention contributing greatly to cellulite production. A healthy diet rich in nutrients and antioxidants, washed down with plenty of hydrating and fresh water can flush out toxins and help boost collagen production.
  • Thirdly, regular exercise targeting the buttocks and thighs can burn fat while toning muscles and smoothing the skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite. A combination of good diet and regular exercise is key to achieving a healthy lifestyle. However, while this approach may significantly reduce body fat, sadly the same measures might not drastically reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Can Cellulite Reducing Clothes Help?

A recent study showed that the application of lowerbody pressure during a weight loss regimen could affect the skin’s connective tissue to see greater cellulite reduction. This principle has been taken to the next level by innovations in wearable solutions for cellulite, including a new ‘leg aesthetic’ product range from Falke, which claim to offer ‘cellulite control’ properties. The range consists of ‘triple action’ tights and pants, both of which are specially formulated to help reduce the appearance of cellulite, while also improving the skin’s elasticity.

Does It Work?

The manufacturer’s at Falke are refreshingly honest about their products, stating that they won’t permanently make cellulite disappear overnight. However, after being scientifically tested in an independent study, Falke’s Leg Aesthetics range has been proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite when used regularly. Their Cellulite Control tights and panties target thighs and buttocks with their innovative ‘Triple Action’ system, increasing blood flow in these areas, improving the skin’s elasticity and even making your legs slimmer over time – all from simply wearing the product!

If anyone has tried Falke’s Cellulite Reducing range, we’d love to hear your thoughts? You can buy the Falke range of products from their website..
