Case of the ‘Bridesmaidzilla’?

Move over bridezilla! Weddings are now all about demanding bridesmaids.

For anyone who is interested to know – I (yes me) am getting married. Finally. After nearly nine years together, three children and a dog – the old man is finally making an honest woman out of me. I should think so too – he took his blimming time.

We are just six weeks into planning our wedding, but I really don’t think I am going to be one of those fussy, demanding and, quite frankly, scary brides we often hear about.  I put off going dress shopping for a whole year, (I’m not really a fan of shopping…actually, that’s a lie – I LOVE shopping, I just hate looking at myself in changing room mirrors) and when I did finally make it to a bridal shop, I tried on five dresses then came home and ordered a bargain one off ebay and I love it- see simple. We are having our ceremony in my local church and reception in our favourite wine bar. So far, stress free.
So imagine my annoyance to find that my sister/bridesmaid is turning out to be rather a bridesmaid-zilla!

Firstly, she turned her nose up to my choice of colour scheme. I imagine our wedding to be laid-back and fun and have a vintage influence, as I’m a huge fan of the 1920′s elegance. No bright and gaudy colours for us, we chose a very pale, dusky pink as our colour. Beautiful.

Apparently, my bridesmaid ‘doesn’t look good in pink’. Despite the fact that her upcoming eighteenth birthday party (yes, I have an eighteen-year-old, beautiful, skinny sister – how lucky) is PINK THEMED!!! (grits teeth)
So the other half and I rack our brains and decide to keep the pale pink (which my heart was set on, for my easy bridesmaid) but match it with a mint green (for the more fussy bridesmaid). I quite like the idea of mismatched bridesmaid dresses. See I’m accommodating, right?

I then get a message from said sister announcing that she can’t find a green dress she likes, (even though she has until next September to find one) so is designing one and my mum is paying to have it made for her. She then went on to describe some hotpants/jumpsuit/skirt concoction! I mean, what the heck?
I don’t mean to sound like a selfish, demanding bride, but more thought is going into her outfit than mine! One day, ONE DAY, is all I ask!
Erm, did I just come across as a selfish, demanding bride? Ooops. Oh well.
