The ‘faux naturale’ beauty trends

A look at the natural trends that have been rocking the catwalks, with fuss free hair and barely there makeup.

A trip to the hairdresser…

So, this week I’ve been for a (much needed) hairdresser’s appointment. You see, I am attempting the difficult task of growing out a pixie cut and I look like I have an utterly rebellious, wayward, un-staightened Justin Bieber barnet. Not good.
So, with this monstrosity on top of my head, and my hairdresser drooling as she waited to get her scissors to it,  on a scale of 1-10, how annoyed do you think she was when when I uttered the words “Not too much off the ends, I’m growing it out.”?
You’re correct if you guessed 10.  If looks could kill….

Long hair dreams!

I am desperate for longer hair though, after a whole 2011 of expensive highlighting, and dozens of hours spent melting under a heater to get my mousy brown hair blonde, I decided that the ‘high maintenance’ look wasn’t really me. I home-coloured with a light brown. Of course it went black. I then went through the nightmare process of colour stripping and re-colouring.  My hair went a decent light-ish brown but the condition of it was awful, so I got it all chopped off.

Messy Bridal Up-do

I now dream of a messy up-do, in my natural hair colour, for my wedding.  Hence my recent dalliance in head massage (to encourage growth, apparently) and purchasing of Holland and Barrett’s hair, nails and skin pills. Will they work? We’ll see.
Luckily for me, (as I’m not much of a glamour puss) the more natural look is currently ‘in’  with it showing at the Givenchy and Burberry shows this year. For me, this is a breath of fresh air after the inundation of ‘fakery’ from recent well known reality shows.
If you need a bit of convincing to step away from the hair colour and layers of foundation, take a look at these ladies:

Faux Naturale

And, before you say it, yes I realise all of these models/celebs do have hair colour and make-up on, (and God forbid I ever ventured out without my concealer and eyebrows on),  but it’s done in a way that it enhances and flatters their natural beauty, it’s fresh and fuss free. Perfect.
What do you think?  Do you just wash and go completely au naturale , spend ages applying make-up to get the less-is-more look, or do you think that more is, in fact, more?
