Silvercross, manufacturers of the Halo Pushchair, have issued a recall on batch of Halo Pushchairs. A small number of Halo Pushchairs have a component which wears prematurely. Under certain circumstances, the worn component can cause the pushchair to function incorrectly, resulting in a small hazard to the user.
Three batches from the first production of the Halo pushchair in 2009 are affected; the batch numbers are 150209, 150409, 150509.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued a recall to repair in cooperation with Regal Lager Inc, distributor of CYBEX Strollers due to risk of fingertip amputation and laceration hazards. The recall has been issued in North America and the following information has been provided by the distributors for US and Canadian citizens.
The recall includes the following strollers:
- Cybex Ruby
- Cybex Onyx
- Cybex Topaz
The Cybex Ruby, Onyx and Topax buggies are available in the UK from Mama and Papa’s department store and online department store Very.co.uk. Mamas & Papas signed an exclusive deal with Cybex in January 2009, “as Mamas & Papas believed their European counterparts offered an outstanding range of products which deserved to be introduced to their UK customers through Mamas & Papas brand so that parents were assured of the same quality and value for money they have come to recognise from the UK Superbrand.”
Mindful Mum is contacting Cybex (based in Germany), Mama & Papas and the UK Trading Institute to find out if UK strollers are affected and if the recall will also be announced to customers in the UK / Europe as part of Mama & Papas ongoing commitment to assure UK customer of their “strict quality and safety controls.”

Graco have issued a voluntary safety notice on select strollers manufactured before March 2008. The canopies on the following buggies may have the potential to cause small children injury:
- Graco Spree
- Graco Passage
- Graco Alano
- Graco Oasis
Some of the canopies on select Spree™, Passage™, Alano™ and Oasis model strollers, manufactured by Graco prior to March 2008, could potentially expose small children to a risk of injury, i.e a possible fingertip laceration.
No other Graco strollers are affected by this notice.

If you have any of the above buggies, Graco will provide you with a canopy hinge cover free of charge. Follow the following steps to see if you need to order a free hinge cover from Graco.

Maclaren and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a volutary recall of Maclaren Strollers. The buggy (stroller) has a hazardous hinge mechanism which has caused fingertip amputation and laceration to children when the buggy is unfolded or opened. The firm has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller’s hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.
Mindful Mum does not understand why the Maclaren buggy is being recalled in the United States but not in the UK. Although the Maclaren Buggies are made in China, Maclaren is a British company with a loyal customer base both here in the UK and in Europe.

Mindful Mum calls on Maclaren to follow other European manufacturers such as Bugaboo who announced a ‘safety alert’ on the Bugaboo Bee brakes which allowed parents to claim a free brake bracket online in the UK and Europe.

Update: After news coverage revealing fingertip amputation cases in the UK and over 200 emails to Maclaren, Maclaren announced on the 12th of November 09, that they will provide free of charge hinge covers that can be used to cover the folding mechanism available to parents who request them.
Download the template asking Maclaren UK to provide free hinge repair kits to customers who have purchased Maclaren buggies in the UK. The Maclaren Strollers (Buggies) affected by the recall include:
Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.
You will need the product VIN code. To locate the VIN please turn your stroller upside down. VIN is the 21 digit number beside the bar code.

Although over 120 people have notified Bugaboo Bee of brake failure in the United States, no injuries have been reported. Bugaboo Bee are solving the issue by making brake brackets available in a product ‘recall to repair’.
To receive the bracket set at home free of charge complete the bugaboo brake bracket form. To claim your breaks you will need your bugaboo bee; date of purchase, serial number and name of retailer.
When you receive your brackets you will receive instructions on how to assemble or install the brackets on to your brakes. You can also see an image on how the brackets fit on the bugaboo bee brakes.
