Maclaren and the US Con­sumer Prod­uct Safety Com­mis­sion (CPSC) have announced a volu­tary recall of Maclaren Strollers.  The buggy (stroller) has a haz­ardous hinge mech­a­nism which has caused fin­ger­tip ampu­ta­tion and lac­er­a­tion to chil­dren when the buggy is unfolded or opened.  The firm has received 15 reports of chil­dren plac­ing their fin­ger in the stroller’s hinge mech­a­nism, result­ing in 12 reports of fin­ger­tip ampu­ta­tions in the United States.

Mind­ful Mum does not under­stand why the Maclaren buggy is being recalled in the United States but not in the UK. Although the Maclaren Bug­gies are made in China, Maclaren is a British com­pany with a loyal cus­tomer base both here in the UK and in Europe.
